Document Type Change Utility

The Document Type Change Utility allows a department admin to change the document type of an existing document in the IWS system.  This option may be needed if the incorrect document type was chosen from the Inbox or File Upload areas.

Once a document type is changed using this utility, the document will start over in workflow and follow the path setup for the new document type.  It will go through Indexing again.




Action Buttons

  • Change Document Type: Click this button after entering the document number to change and selecting the New Document Type.
  • Save: Saves or "executes" the document type change action.


Fields and settings

  • Document Number: Enter the document number of the existing IWS document that needs to be changed and click the Search button.
  • New Document Type: Select the new document type from the list of available department document types.
  • Document Indexes: The system will display the existing document type and index information for the document number entered.  This can help the admin know they are changing the correct document.
  • Selected Document Type: The system will display the new document type information for confirmation.

Fill in all fields and click the Save button to complete the document type change.
