Key Change Utility

The key change utility refers to keys that are assigned in IWS when the department is using a web service to connection to another database or system outside of IWS (more information regarding Web Services is available in the System Admin documentation.  Please consult the IWS admin team for more information).  When a web service is in place, the IWS document can be indexed using a unique key that ties the document to a record in the corresponding web server system.  If that key changes on the other system, it will need to be updated in IWS.  For example: if a web service key ties to a member, and the member has their ID number updated on the other system, all of the documents tied to that old member ID key now have a broken link to the member record in that other system.  This utility allows a department admin to update the key to the include the new member ID.

This utility can only be used for documents that are tied to a web service.

Action Buttons

• Save: Saves or "executes" the key change action.

Fields and settings

• Service Name: The name of the web service where the key exists that is to be changed.
• Key To Change: Manually type or paste the current key in to be changed.
• Change Key To: Manually type or paste the new key in.

Fill in all fields and click the Save button to complete the key change.
